Opera Santa Barbara and the Bacara Resort & Spa are partnering on an extraordinary night of fine wine, fine food and fine music!
Inspired by Verona, the “City of Love” as made famous by Shakespeare’s Romeo and Juliet, this elegant evening offers the perfect coupling of fine wine and theater arts. Verona’s top winemaker, Armando Fumanelli, proprietor of Fumanelli Cellars, will present four Fumanelli wines, paired with a lovely reception and four-course tasting menu by Executive Chef David Reardon. Each course will be preceded by Italian arias and duets from members of Opera Santa Barbara.
Dinner will be served in Bacara’s magnificent circular Rotunda, situated above the resort’s lobby and courtyard. With soothing natural light filling the space, French windows and a private terrace, the Rotunda offers 360 degree views of Bacara’s magical seaside property. Architectural elements such as the beamed ceiling and massive wrought iron chandelier will be complemented by stunning floral displays by Bacara’s creative director, Lorrene Balzani.
An Evening in Verona includes:

Opera Santa Barbara will be holding auditions for future chorus and comprimario opportunities for the 14/15 season consisting of Rigoletto, L’italiani in Algeri, and A Streetcar Named Desire.
Note: there is no women’s chorus in any of these shows. If you sang in any productions for the 13/14 season, you do not need to re-audition, but are free to if you wish. There are other opportunities that occur during this season from which we like to pull singers from our core of choristers. As said previously, if you do not audition but worked for us last season, you will still be considered for the those opportunities.
There are still several slots available for tenors and basses for our productions of Rigoletto and L’italiani in Algeri. We look forward to hearing and hearing from you!
There will be auditions in Santa Barbara and Ventura. Auditions will be approximately eight (8) minutes long. Please prepare two (2) offerings, one in Italian
In Ventura: Saturday, September 6, 2014 from 1:00pm – 4:00pm
In Santa Barbara: Tuesday, September 9, 2014 from 7:00pm – 10:00pm
Please respond to: firstname.lastname@example.org with times that you are available on those days and I will put you in a time-slot. More details will follow.
Opera Santa Barbara is very excited about our upcoming season, featuring three fully-staged operas! This season continues OSB’s dedication to bringing high caliber professional artists to the stage of the Granada Theatre. One of the ways in which we are able to maintain a roster of fabulous singers, is through our Artist Host program. You can support our work by becoming an Artist Host.
Artist Hosts provide housing for one of our artists. We request a private bedroom, private bathroom, access to a kitchen and internet access. We are able to install internet if that is not available. Hosts are not expected to provide transportation, meals, or any other amenity. The artists tend to be working most afternoons and evenings, and enjoy quiet time in the mornings.
Artist hosts are given two tickets to the production, an invitation to the Artist Welcome Party, an invitation to a Private Rehearsal and Reception, an invitation to the Opening Night Party and a $100 stipend to cover any utility costs.
Dates we need housing for are October 13 – November 10, 2014; February 9 – March 9, 2015; and March 28 – April 27, 2015.
If you are interested in this program, or have any questions, please contact Kristen Reed at email@example.com or by calling 805.898.3890.
