Santa Barbara, CA, FEB. 2, 2010 – This week, seven emerging professional opera singers arrive in Santa Barbara to begin their six-week residency as Opera Santa Barbara’s 2011 Studio Artists. They will be singing featured roles in a new production of La Traviata on March 4 and 6, but will also represent the opera company in many outreach activities leading up to the opera, including OSB’s Lunchtime Concert Series.
Always one of Opera Santa Barbara’s most popular community outreach series, this season’s four Wednesday afternoon concert programs will feature two returning Studio Artists and five new additions to the OSB Studio Artist family. They can be heard at noon in the McCune Founder’s Room at The Granada Theatre February 9, 16 and 23 and March 2.
Soprano Rebecca Fay and tenor Steven Tompkins were audience favorites in last year’s concerts, and together with Alissa Anderson (mezzo-soprano), Gabriel Manro (baritone), Michael Krzankowski (baritone), Nova Safo (tenor), and Gabriel Vamvulescu (bass), they will entertain with familiar arias and duets, mixed in with a sprinkle of contemporary music.
In addition to their opera performances, the Studio Artists receive private coachings, and professional development workshops. Don’t miss a single one of these terrific free performances!
